The Australian Foundation for Disability (AFFORD) is one of Australia’s leading disability service providers, committed to enhancing lifestyle, learning, and vocational opportunities for people with disabilities and their families. With over 2,000 employees, AFFORD aims to empower individuals to explore new life experiences and embrace balanced lifestyles. However, the organization faced significant challenges due to historical underinvestment in technology and an under-resourced IT team, primarily reliant on external vendors that exploited AFFORD's lack of IT capabilities.
To address these challenges, AFFORD engaged Steven Fulop to assist in building a robust and high performing in-house IT team. Partnering closely with the newly appointed IT Director, Steven undertook a comprehensive review of position descriptions, workforce planning, salary benchmarking, and project timelines to ensure the recruitment process aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.
As a result of Steven's efforts, AFFORD successfully filled nine key IT roles:
All positions were filled on time and within budget, directly supporting the project timetable and laying the foundation for a more capable and efficient IT department.
Over time, the newly established IT team has had a transformative impact on AFFORD. By implementing modern systems and a secure, scalable infrastructure, the organization has become more efficient and competitive in its sector. This technological upgrade has not only improved operational resilience but has also enhanced the overall customer experience, enabling better integration between systems and facilitating data-driven decision-making. As a result, AFFORD is better positioned to deliver high-quality support to its clients, driving growth and empowering individuals with disabilities to lead more fulfilling lives.
